Thunder on the Mountain 2013

Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza
Thursday, July 4 at 9 p.m.

A Birmingham tradition for decades, Thunder on the Mountain is the city's annual fireworks display and the biggest in the state of Alabama! Not only does Vulcan Park and Museum organize this magnificent show, but Vulcan is the centerpiece of the program. Make sure you make Vulcan a part of your Independence Day tradition!

2013: A Monumental Year for Birmingham

Vulcan Park and Museum is honored to join the City of Birmingham and other Birmingham cultural institutions to mark the 50th anniversary of the pivotal events surrounding Birmingham's Civil Rights Movement. This year-long commemoration will reflect on how far we've come as a society and celebrate the spirit of hope that Birmingham's struggles have inspired in human rights movements around the world.

In keeping with our mission to share and preserve Vulcan and the history he represents, VPM will offer several programs that will impart visitors with a greater appreciation for the individuals and events that impacted Birmingham in the 1960s.
