Schedule a Docent-led Tour at Vulcan Park

Vulcan Park offers two types of tours: Docent-led tours and Self-Guided tours.

Schedule a Docent-Led Tour at Vulcan Park

Vulcan Park and Museum is designed to be self-guided and interactive but docents enrich the overall experience and interpret the museum exhibits.  (Recommended for 2nd grade and above).   Tours should be scheduled at least three weeks in advance.
Bookings are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Park Hours
Tours take place during Vulcan Center hours:
Monday – Saturday: 10am – 6pm  Sunday: 1pm – 6pm (Tours must begin by 4 pm)
Docent-led tours last one hour and are only given during the school year.  For visits in June, July or August, please see our Self-Guided Tours page.

Class Sizes

Maximum of 60 students for a docent-led tour. Large groups are divided into smaller groups. For grades K – 2, one chaperone per 8 students; for grades 3 and above, one chaperone per 10 students.

Vulcan Observation Balcony

It is important to note that the new balcony is open-air and can be quite frightening to some students or adults. Please be sure to prepare your students and especially your chaperones for this experience.

Tours take place rain or shine; as part of the tour is conducted outside on our walking trails, come prepared for possible inclement weather. (If weather appears to be extremely dangerous, it may be necessary to cancel and reschedule.)

Lunch

You may plan to have a picnic lunch at the park; please note that there is no inside space available in the event of inclement weather.  Vulcan Park does NOT sell food or drinks; however there is a Coke machine in the parking lot at the park entrance.
