A charming musical inspired by one of Birmingham’s most beloved beauty queens performed under the stars at Vulcan® Park and Museum!
September 12 - 13, 2008
Friday and Saturday Night, 7:30 PM
Red Mountain Theatre Company and Vulcan® Park and Museum will present two outdoor performances of Miss Vulcan 1939, a lively and light-hearted musical (loosely) based on the actual Miss Vulcan pageant held during the official dedication of Vulcan Park in 1939. Watch history come to life as a spectacle of outrageous characters, assisted by a handful of audience participants, tell this unpredictable tale of a kind-hearted dime store clerk who teaches everyone that it takes more than looks to be crowned Vulcan’s queen.
Tickets are $20 (includes outdoor performance and admission to Vulcan’s Observation Balcony and Museum) and can be purchased in advance by calling 205-324-2424 or online at www.redmountaintheatre.org.
